What's included

Built for the way care home kitchens work.

Dietary needs in care are complex and they change. CareMenu Pro keeps them in one place, so the kitchen isn't relying on handwritten notes passed between floors.

Rotating menu cycles

Build 2 or 4 week menus with a version for every diet. Once it's set, the kitchen always knows what's being served.

Resident profiles

Allergies, IDDSI food texture, drink consistency, likes and dislikes, target calories, and room or area for every resident.

Daily meal ordering

Staff place each resident's order for the day. The kitchen sees a live summary grouped by area and dietary need.

Nutrition tracking

Log what residents actually ate and track daily calorie intake, so you can spot anyone who isn't eating enough.

Meal costing

Set a cost per portion and see daily, weekly and per-resident spend against your budget.

Change alerts

When a resident's IDDSI level, allergies or room changes, the kitchen gets an alert straight away.

Meal costing

Add a cost per portion and CareMenu Pro does the sums: the cost per resident for each day, the weekly total for everyone, and how you're doing against a weekly budget.

  • Weekly cost and average daily cost per resident
  • Budget variance against your weekly budget
  • Day-by-day breakdown for each week of the cycle
  • CSV and PDF exports for managers and finance
Evidence for inspections

Show how you meet residents' nutrition needs.

Regulation 14 expects care homes to meet each resident's nutrition and hydration needs, and the CQC looks for evidence that you do. In Scotland, the Care Inspectorate asks the same questions. CareMenu Pro keeps the records together, so you're not pulling them from charts and notebooks on the day.

Questions

CareMenu Pro questions.

Do I need a CompliChef subscription?

Yes. CareMenu Pro is an add-on that sits inside KitchenPortal, so it needs an active CompliChef plan. You switch it on from your subscription settings, and there is no separate login.

How does it handle IDDSI?

Each resident’s profile records their IDDSI food texture level and their drink consistency, using the IDDSI names (Thin, Slightly Thick, Mildly Thick, Moderately Thick and Extremely Thick for drinks). Menu cycles have a version for each texture level, so you can plan Liquidised, Pureed, Minced & Moist, Soft & Bite-Sized and Regular meals. There are also Standard, Vegetarian and Vegan menus, and Soft and Puree menus if your home uses its own diet names alongside IDDSI.

Does it help with CQC inspections?

Regulation 14 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 expects care homes to meet residents’ nutrition and hydration needs, and inspectors look for evidence. CareMenu Pro keeps that evidence in one place: each resident’s dietary needs and texture level, what was ordered for them, what they ate, and when their needs changed. The same records help in Scotland with the Care Inspectorate. It supports your care planning; it doesn’t replace it.

How are meals set out?

Each day has breakfast, lunch with two choices, pudding, dinner with two choices and a snack. You build a 2 or 4 week cycle and it rotates automatically.

Does it work with Person Centred Software (PCS)?

Yes, by CSV. You can import resident profiles from a Person Centred Software (PCS) CSV export, and export resident and nutrition data as CSV to bring back into PCS or another system.

Can I see what our catering costs?

Yes. Set a cost per portion and CareMenu Pro works out the cost per resident for each day, the weekly total, and how you are doing against a weekly budget. You can export it as CSV or PDF.

What does it cost?

CareMenu Pro is £10 a month, or £100 a year, which saves £20. That is on top of your CompliChef plan, which starts at £39 a month for one site.
