Grandpa’s Fish Bar

A newly opened fish & chip shop swapped a box file of paper records for CompliChef — now every temperature check, checklist and allergen record runs from a single iPad, ready for the EHO.

Manages every compliance record

For those considering joining CompliChef I would say go for it. We’ve really enjoyed using it and the transition from manual paper records was seamless. Ongoing support from the technical team has been genuinely impressive — our feedback and requests have always been taken seriously and implemented rapidly.

Named after Grandad Eric

Grandpa’s Fish Bar opened in March 2025 — the name inspired by the owner’s late Grandad Eric, who loved fish and chips passionately. Grandpa’s is also CompliChef’s longest-standing customer.

From a box file to a single iPad

Before CompliChef, the shop kept manual paper records of everything in one big box file. Now the whole records-management side of the business runs from a single iPad in store that every manager can access. The team use CompliChef daily to record:

  • Temperature checks on fridges, probes and hot holds
  • Cleaning checklists
  • Open and close checklists
  • Daily diary entries
  • Allergen information for the whole menu

Streamlined, tidier, and inspection-ready

Moving off paper has streamlined the regulatory side of the business. It’s a lot tidier — and when the next EHO visit comes around, the team will be able to show exactly how efficient and proactive they are with food safety.

Seamless switch, standout support

The transition from manual paper records was seamless, and the ongoing support from the technical team has stood out: feedback and feature requests have been taken seriously and implemented rapidly.
